Not only are they WAY talented they are genuinely nice people and great to work with! They always go above and beyond to make sure that the client is HAPPY!   Plus they are a little silly and we LOVE that!

HOLIDAY ENTERTAINMENT

Whew!  Can you believe how fast this year has flown?

It is October and the season is quickly moving upon us.  Now is the time  to secure some great  entertainment for your holiday party.

To add that sparkle to your holiday event, entertainment is a must!  Whether it is carolers greeting your guests at the door, photos with Santa, a magician making merry sleight of hand tricks, or the sound of Christmas music playing cheerfully in the background by a musical soloist, duo, band, or even a DJ, nothing can make your guests feel more in the festive spirit.  For those bigger  bashes, a great dance band will keep the party going and the dance floor full.

A HOT POST, JUST FOR FUN

This was a fun, quick event at the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek for a national food show. For the attendees that thought they could stand the heat, they were given the opportunity to sign up and be a contestant in the “Tropical Pepper, Ghost Pepper Chicken Wing Eating Contest”

Talk about “HOT”!  The Ghost Pepper, sometimes known as the Naga Jolokia is previously recognized by Guinness World Records as the hottest pepper in the world.  With that said, it was very appropriate to have the popular tropical soca tune, Hot, Hot, Hot playing in the background during this 8 minute sizzling contest!

MC Howard, took on the challenge of conducting this fiery, fast, feast, in his “Hot Pepper” chef garb.

And the winner is, “we have a tie”! Two contestants vie for the 1st place honor.  33 Wings in 8 minutes.  A hefty dollar prize was given to both and the crowd went wild!

Now off to dinner (no wings on the menu) with the tropical sounds of Caribbean Crew!

Music For A Cause

Doc Rivers Celebrity Golf Invitational Pairings Party was truly a great night of fun and raising money for Shepherd’s Hope, a wonderful faith-based organization of volunteers that exists to provide access to health care for the uninsured in Central Florida.

This year’s event took place at the beautiful Reunion Resort in the Grande Ballroom and on board for the evening’s entertainment after the auction was “The Leonard Brothers” one of Central Florida’s favorite bands.  It was an event filled with smiling celebrity faces as well as local supporters of Shepherd’s Hope.

But I don’t think anyone had bigger smiles on their faces than the band as they noticed who exactly was in the audience, much less when they were joined on the stage by the likes of  Thomas McClary of “The Commodores”, “Kool”  from “Kool & the Gang” and vocalist Jeffrey Osbourne formerly with L.T.D.  With Thomas on guitar and Kool on bass, Jeffrey took the front vocalist position and jammed to “Celebration”, “Every Time I Turn Around” and  “Stay With Me Tonight”

Welcome to the world of DJ’ing, MC’ing, Mixing and Scratching

Be one of the first to offer this unique TEAM BUILDING experience!

RHYTHM CITY DJ SKOOL will take your clients on a three hour journey through the art of DJ’ing and MC’ing where they will get hands on experience and knowledge of what it takes to be a real life DJ/MC by some of the Top DJ’s in the industry.

First they will learn about the origin of the art and where it began, then they will get familiar with the tools that DJ’s have used and are using in today’s commercial markets.  After students become familiar with the equipment they will choose a DJ/MC name. Then they will learn the tricks of the trade that will transform them into a beat mixer and MC giving them the confidence to be on stage and rock the house.  After practicing and intense learning they will have a chance at becoming the ultimate corporate Party Rocka!  Divided into teams, they will be able to show their skills as they battle each other to find out who will be the “PARTY ROCKA DJ/MC for the party.”

For those participants that are a little on the shy side….FEAR NOT, their creative juices will be tapped into to create a name for their group along with creating a team rhyme, “Rap Song” that will represent their individual teams and will be judged on by RHYTHM CITY DJ SKOOL cast.  This will also be a big part in considering which team will win the Rhythm City DJ Skool competition and allow their team to be the “PARTY ROCKA DJ/MC for the party.”

Talent + Professionalism = Gigs

You may be the best thing since sliced bread, but if you can’t be on time, FA-GETTA-BOUT-IT!

Just a few things from the booking agents point of view. I believe booking agents and talent have the same goal!  REPEAT BUSINESS!

A few AGENT expectations for ENTERTAINERS:  

Be Punctual!  Arrive when you say you are going to arrive.

Be Strategic!  Plan to be set up at least 30 minutes prior to show time (unless otherwise planned).  Even if your set up time is only five minutes.  This allows for a few minutes downtime before show time and often the planners want to do a final walk-through and make sure everything is in place and ready to go. 

Be Flexible!  Often times, attendees are gathered at the door and chomping at the bit to get in to the party. Planners will want to accommodate them occasionally and open the doors a few minutes early with the talent in place and ready to go.  To give the client an extra 10 minutes of your talent goes a long way and is generally remembered for to be put on the top of  the list for further bookings.

Be Happy!  Load in can be a bear at some venues…understood! But…….it is a gig! What can be better than to make a living at something you enjoy and have a passion for? 

Be Neat!  Pack away those cases and hide them in a back hall, straighten the cords, a little extra effort to streamline the stage area goes a long way….client’s spend a lot of money to make the room look nice.

Be Ready!  Always, always,  be on stage or set and ready to go at least 5-10 minutes before downbeat! This gives you a little extra time to tune up and fix any last minute issues.

Not much to ask in order to make a lot of people happy!
